Sam knew he was probably the last person his age who believed in Santa.
But he didn’t care. He’d always believed in Santa, and every year, despite his main wish not coming true. He got something he’d secretly wanted but never told anyone about. Keeping his belief alive… And keeping his secret desire alive. That maybe misguided belief that this was going to be the year Santa gave him the one thing he asked for every Christmas.
Sam may have been immature, but he genuinely didn’t care.
So he’d made his way to the nearest mailbox first chance he got. Taking his old, taped up skateboard for a ride as he did and humming a Christmas Carol to himself. After all, as his favorite time of year he usually couldn’t get those out of his head. “Hey wait!” He shouted as he made his way toward the nearby post officer. Already emptying out the box. “Got one more!”
”That time of year again, Sam?” he asked with a chuckle before taking it from the winded kid. ”Only kid I know who gets his letter to Santa in early.”
“Gives him more time, Bill,” Sam replied with a sheepish grin. “It’s the next best thing to going up to the North Pole myself and pleading my case.”
The thought made him chuckle, though he often wondered how on Earth he’d even get there. Maybe if he’d paid more attention he might have noticed Bill’s pointed ears. And asked him. But Sam was never the most observant kid - always having his head in the clouds. It was what made him both a good artist and a budding inventor.
“Hey, promise you’ll actually expedite it, OK? I know you only work this time of year so it shouldn’t be hard right?” He asked as he started to skate off down the street.

Bill shakes his head as he smiles as he watches Sam run off " I will make sure he gets it Sam dont you worry your list brightens his day !" He yells to him Bill had a feeling now days it brightens his day more thin ever but there was no way he would know that with the whole secret Claus and everything Bill goes over to his truck and puts the bag of letters he had taken out of the box and places Sam's letter In a special bag that states on the front it was direct mail to Santa Max was a tomboy she has the brown hair cut into a bowel cut swit pants a army jacket she didn't look like a girl she didn't act like one either she believes in getting dirty and just having fun she was no girly girl she was right thin lessening to rock music on her skateboard she didn't notice the boy on his own skateboard in till it was almost too late Her eye's go big "hey kid get out of the way get out of the way !" She yells with her ear buds in she couldn't hear her own voice as her and the boy headed right for each other Samuel Aarons

Brightens his day huh? He wasn’t so sure about that, at least he would find it a little depressing. But at the same time, he wasn’t about to argue - turning his head. He added. “Thanks Bill! Good luck!” Sam’s eyes widened when he turned back. To say the least he had not expected anyone else would be skateboarding right now. Or at least he hadn’t known a lot of skaters in the area. That said, Sam was a bit more skilled with a skateboard than he let himself show off. Turning and steering around with some difficulty. He was barely able to just miss the girl. Taking a deep breath, he shook his head in visible surprise. “That was close,” he kicked the board back up again. “You good?” He decided to ask. Santa Clause

" Her voice sound more angry thin she ment it to be but she was hurting she was also one to talk she was a run away her mom and dad didn't have the time of day for her but she was not going to spill her heart to this boy she was doing fine by herself and she didnt want him to do like all the others and make fun of her and call her name's and all that other stuff Samuel Aarons

Parents? That one was a laugh. A laugh he hadn't had in a long time. Considering Sam went through a couple of "parents" a year at this point. But he wasn't about to talk about that either. He'd long gotten over the name-calling, he just didn't talk about them. Given he'd never met them anyway, and it was kind of a moot point. "I taught myself how to skateboard. Learned all I could after Santa gave me this one last year," He grinned ear to ear maybe a little oblivious. "It kind of shows. Except the tape, that was my last foster dad's fault - he got pissed about my grades so he snapped it." Not that he wasn't used to that. Sam could press buttons, he could press buttons good. "Doesn't look too bad though. Just a scraped knee," He shrugged as he looked over her injury. "Maybe one of the adults around have a first aid kit or something." Thinking back to the mailman only a few feet away - he decided to give a shout. "Hey Bill, you got band-aids in there or something?" Santa Clause

wait did he just say Santa gave him that skateboard? Max looks at him with a confused look on her face he looked the right age to be growing out of the whole Santa thing but now days even the young kids look bigger thin they should so she was not going to point anything out just, yet she gives him a small smile "ya will that's great for you if you ask me it looks like Santa gave you a used one not some of his best work kid" that's when he grins, and he talks about his last foster dad's fault for the tape this made her feel bad, but it was too late now to take back what she had said that was Max open mouth put foot into mouth before she could think on what to say next, he was looking over her knee she was not use to boys being this close to her a light blush appears on her face "Doesn't look too bad though. Just a scraped knee," He shrugged as he looked over her injury. "Maybe one of the adults around have a first aid kit or something." Thinking back to the mailman only a few feet away - he decided to give a shout. "Hey Bill, you got band-aids in there or something?" Bill looks over at Sam and sees him with a young boy girl ? human children was hard for him to till there gender but he smiles as he thinks over the question " I will look in the truck Sam be right back" he climbs into the truck and starts acting like he is looking for a first aid kit in reality he snaps his fingers and the air and sunlight bends together to form a first aid kit with the red cross and everything sparks pop a little of the kit which was odd but he shrugs and thinks nothing of it while hes doing all this Max still blushing looks at the boy who looks around the same age and puts her foot in her mouth again " hey look boy if this is some kind of way too look up my shorts thin take off before I give you a fat lip I don't wear any of that girly girl stuff..." when she said it she turns a deeper shade of red why did she say that she never had been this odd in front of boy "I mean it's none of your buisness what I wear for underwear I mean just forget you heard any of that stuff alright I don't need anyone's help ok ?" right thin Bill walks up with the first aid kit with a big smile on his face " here you go sam one First aid kit sorry if it's a little dusty it's been in the back of the truck for a while the mail business is not that exciting but the bosses make us carrie the things just in case " he chuckles at his own little joke this is the longest he has had to talk to a normal human he hoped to himself this would not make him late for his next letter pick up in Florida so many stops to make and so little time he would have to ask again for the committee to give them more time to get the letters to the big man when the end of the year meeting comes up he was sure he would be ignored like the last few years but for the here and now he holds out the first aid kit for Sam with his big smile he was starting to think the other child looked like a boy yep he was thinking a boy Samuel Aarons

Second hand? No, of course he had gotten it new. It was his foster dad’s fault. All the same, he let the girl rant all along about not looking up her shorts. That almost made him laugh, but he definitely wasn’t gonna argue about it. “Like I said, I got it new. The crack was my foster dad’s fault,” he replied point blank. “Santa isn’t like that. He does good stuff for good kids.” “Thanks Bill.” He replied as he took the band-aids and handed it over to the girl. “You should at least put it on yourself if you don’t want help. Unless you want to end up bleeding for a while.” Standing up, he decided to turn to Bill, curious as he’d never actually had a chance to talk to him before. “So you planning fun stuff this year?” He asked - trying to sound chipper about it. “I’m making toys for my foster siblings this year. We got three tiny ones this time. I thought they’d like it.” Santa Clause
